Just add Fuchsia. Adding life to a dated Dining Room.

The living room renovations are wrapping up, and thanks to The Meridian Experience teaming up with Overstock I’ve started to think about the adjoining spaces. Mainly the dining room. The photo below shows it right before I gave it a fresh coat of paint last year. It definitely helped bring some life to this tired room, but I never got around to actually finishing it up.

When we moved in I used what furniture I had on hand. The table and chairs are still working great for us, but I’d like to replace the white shelves with something wider. I’d also like it to be a different color than the table to give the room some warmth.

I’ve really loved the charm the tongue and groove walls have added to the living room. So I am looking to give the walls in this space little more personality. I want to do that with the help of some wallpaper, and board and batten.

Using the favorites feature on overstock, I was able to hone in on some things I think will really add to the room. I was able to incorporate a bit of humor, fun colors, patterns, and some retro flair. I think all of this will really look great with the existing table and chairs. You can check out all my picks here.

As someone who appreciates knowing how a space is laid out I created this floor plan. This so happens to be the main walkway from the living room to the kitchen. Because of the placement of openings its already awkward to navigate around the table and centering it in the room would make it even more so. Thus the reason for its placement. I’m also debating on rug size. The rug pictured is an 8×10. A 9×12 would also fit in here. I am still on the fence about putting in a rug at all. When I had younger kids a rug in the dining room wasn’t worth the hassle. Now that they are older I’m reconsidering, but still weary.

Rugs aside, I am excited for this space. After all who doesn’t dream of a hot pink dining room complete with pictures of classy cats? Alright, so maybe not everyone. Those that do are definitely in the right place. Let me know what your favorite piece is and how you would use it in your own space. Happy shopping!

  1. I love your choices and the layout! The cute fuchsia bird wallpaper is such a fun pick. I’m looking at that credenza for my living room.

  2. The lamp + rug + credenza = perfection! Beautiful choices for updating while also honoring the home’s era!
